Village Green

Saturday 26th September, Chalkwell Park, Southend on Sea, Essex, 11am - 10pm

Metal are hosting a one day arts festival in Chalkwell Park, Southend on Sea as part of the launch of their newly renovated low carbon, artist's residency space that sits in the centre of the park.

I will be presenting my interactive installation Family Portraits, offering visitors to have a professional family portrait taken. However, instead of being pictured with their actual family the subjects must be complete strangers asked to participate at random.

It will not be blood relations that create a bond within the photograph. The only link they will have will be collective memory through a shared experience of being part of a fabricated personal history. The positioning, lighting and set will be what implies what we view as 'family'.

Other acts include:

Billy Bragg's Big Busk, The Blockheads, Camera Obscura, Southend Young Creatives, The Paper Cinema, Urban Dance, 30 Bird, Synchro Studios, Man Like Me, Sandpit, Artist's Marketplace, Hide and Seek, The White Bus, Children's Film Hour, Rebecca Joy Sharp, Musical Flares, Christopher Simpson, Beowulf, The Polish Club, Matthew Pescod, Coexist, Royal Opera House, Seth Paris, Cricket and much more...

Come along, it's going to be a great day!
